Public transport in Athens will come to a standstill on Monday, as workers in the bus, tram, trolley and metro services will go on a 24-hour-strike in protest against the voting in the parliament of the omnibus bill. Lines of the suburban train and TrainOSE will operate as per normal, while air traffic controllers will stop work for 3 hours between 12 pm to 3 pm affecting flights schedules. Workers in public services and public hospitals have declared a working stoppage from 12 pm to the end of their shift, while judges will also stop from 9 am till 11 am.
The Civil Servants’ Confederation (ADEDY) is scheduled to hold its protest at 12 pm at Klafthmonos square, while the General Confederation of Greek Workers (GSEE) will protest at 6 pm at Syntagma Square in front of the parliament building, and the communist party workers’ union (PAME) will gather rally at the same time at Omonia square.
