A total of 12,726 immigrants and refugees landed on the Greek island of Lesvos in 2017. Of these, 40% were men, 24% women, while 36% were children under 18 years of age.
According to the official data released by the statistics office of the Moria registration, identification and reception centre, of the 12,726 refugees and migrants who were recorded, came from 64 countries in Africa, Asia, South America and the Caribbean.
In more detail, 5,281 were Syrians, 2,184 Afghans, 1,800 Iraqis, 826 from the Democratic Republic of Congo, 352 from Cameroon, 341 from Iran, and 282 from Algeria.
The remaining 1,660 are from 57 different countries around the world.
