Greek President Pavlopoulos visits NAVY headquarters at Salamina naval base (PHOTOS)

Greece’s armed forces are fully ready to meet any threat, Defence Minister Panos Kammenos said on Wednesday as he received President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopios Pavlopoulos at the Hellenic Navy’s Fleet Headquarters in the Salamis Naval Base.

During his visit, the president was given a tour of the submarine “Matrozos”, the frigate “Spetsai” and the gunboat “Krystallidis”, while he congratulated the crews on their high morale and readiness to defend Greece’s national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The president was briefed on the activities of the Fleet by Commander-in-Chief of the Hellenic Fleet Vice Admiral Ioannis Pavlopoulos.

The defence minister was accompanied by Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS) Chief Admiral Evangelos Apostolakis and Hellenic Navy General Staff chief Vice Admiral Nikolaos Tsounis.
