The General Index of the Athens Stock Market closed at 801.14 points, recording an increase of 2.56% on Thursday.

Banking shares spearheaded the strong recovery, with Piraeus Bank stocks recording a huge 7.12% rise closing at 2.8 euros per share, while the National Bank of Greece (NBG) also saw a 4.05% increase. Trading volume was also high.
