ABBA have announced their reunion 35 years after releasing the farewell single “Thank You for the Music.” The four original members announced in a press release today that they have recorded two new songs. One of them, “I Still Have Faith in You,” is set to debut in December.
The news of incoming music follows their announcement in 2016 of a new digital experience, made in collaboration with Universal Music Group and “American Idol” creator Simon Fuller. The unveiling of “I Still Have Faith in You” will tie in with that project: Digital versions of the band members will perform the track on TV specials airing on NBC and the BBC, due to broadcast in December.
In the statement, the band wrote:
The decision to go ahead with the exciting ABBA avatar tour project had an unexpected consequence. We all four felt that, after some 35 years, it could be fun to join forces again and go into the recording studio. So we did. And it was like time had stood still and that we only had been away on a short holiday. An extremely joyful experience!
They added, “We may have come of age, but the song is new. And it feels good.”
