The death toll in Spain due to the heatwave sweeping across the country has reached 9 in just a week after a 66-year-old man died on Tuesday morning in the region of Extremadura in the south-west of the country.
The doctors concluded that the unfortunate man suffered “multiple organ failure after a heat stroke” on August 2, according to the spokesman for regional health services who spoke to the French Agency.
A 75-year-old woman, who died on August 4, also suffered a heat stroke in Extremadura, the official said.
In the same area, a German man, aged 40, was also added to the list of deaths due to sunburn.
The temperature in the Extremadura region in some areas reached 46 degrees Celsius at the weekend.
