Apart from a resounding defeat in the European Parliament elections, ruling SYRIZA-backed candidates in the country’s regional and local elections were also decisively defeated. Greece’s conservative party prevailed in 11 of the 13 electoral regions across the country, including major prefects such as Attica, Macedonia, Thessaly, Epirus, and the Aegean.
