Greek national track and field teams withdraw from Balkan games due to Covid-19 concerns

The games are scheduled to take place in Romania in September

Newsroom August 20 02:04

The Hellenic Athletics Federation (SEGAS) announced the withdrawal of the Greek team from the Balkan Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Games, which are scheduled to take place in Romania in September.

The decision was taken for safety reasons of the athletes, the coaches and their escorts.

As the announcement read: “The unfavourable development of the health data in the specific country, compels such a decision overturning the initial participation intention, which was expressed at the end of the spring, in the hope of a different course in relation to the pandemic”.
