Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is currently speaking at the extraordinary meeting of the Permanent Holy Synod about the Church-State relations, and the situation in the midst of a pandemic.
It is the first time ever that a Prime Minister has attended and is addressing the Greek Orthodox Church’s Holy Synod. The Minister for Education and Religious Affairs, Niki Kerameos is also in attendance.
Earlier, the government spokesman, Giannis Oikonomou, when asked about the presence of Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the extraordinary meeting, stressed that the matters to be covered would include the issue of the pandemic, but also issues related to Church-State relations.
