Newsroom December 23 03:34

Giannis Antetokounmpo and Maria Sakkari picked up top honours for the second consecutive year, as the best male and female athletes as voted by the Panhellenic Association of Sports Journalists (PSAT).

A noteworthy moment of the night was when the President of the Hellenic Republic, Katerina Sakellaropoulou teared up as she was honouring the Greek national polo team and Maria Sakkari.

The event also honoured those who won medals in Tokyo (National Polo, Duskos, Tentoglou and Petrounia, with the latter two absent from the event), but also those who excelled at the Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as Panagiotis Giannakis, Spyros Kapralos, and others.

In the men, Giannis Antetokounmpo won the vote of the Greek sports journalists. The Greek Freak sent a recorded message expressing his thanks for the distinction: “Thank you for the recognition. I always try to give joy to the Greeks and to inspire the young children, as the old ones did the same with me. Happy Holidays to all with health.”
