Scary moment a huge wave nearly drags Greek dockworkers into the sea (video)

Ships and dockworkers in the Aegean islands face such challenges regularly during winter when storms and heavy weather are common

Newsroom February 11 01:06

This is the moment a huge wave nearly sweeps a dock worker into the raging sea in the port of Tinos in Greece.

On 2 February, the wave slams into the harbour and swallows two men carrying a cable attached to a boat in the port.

One of them slips and falls down before the water fortunately retreats and he is able to get up and move to safety.

Ships and dockworkers in the Aegean islands face such challenges regularly during winter when storms and heavy weather are common. Cable carriers like these often risk their lives to do their difficult job.

The footage was filmed by a passenger on the ferry, which was preparing to set sail to continue its voyage to the Cyclades.
