Attiki Odos to pay €2 million fine for the snow fiasco

The fine is imposed on the companies Attiki Odos SA (Concessionaire Company) and ATTICA ROUTES SA (Operation and Maintenance Company of Attiki Odos)

Privately owned toll motorway Attiki Odos will have to pay a fine of €2 million for the snow fiasco, which left hundreds of Athenian motorists stuck in a traffic jam in freezing temperatures in their cars.

The Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Kostas Karamanlis decided to slap the company with the highest fine provided by law. The fine is imposed on the companies Attiki Odos SA (Concessionaire Company) and ATTICA ROUTES SA (Operation and Maintenance Company of Attiki Odos) for their failure regarding the traffic jam and the accompanying problems that arose after the snowfall of January 24, 2022.
