Diplomats say the UN Security Council will hold an emergency meeting today at Russia’s request to discuss the development of “biological weapons” on behalf of the United States in laboratories in Ukraine.

Washington denounces the accusations as “ridiculous”, arguing that it is the Russian forces that are preparing to use chemical or biological weapons in the ongoing war.

Dmitry Poliansky, the Russian Federation’s first deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, said via Twitter that the Russian delegation had requested a meeting today “to discuss US military biological activities in Ukraine”.

The Russian Ministry of Defense claims that there was a network of laboratories for research and development of biological weapons that operated on behalf of the US Pentagon.
