The second import gate of liquefied natural gas, which will significantly upgrade Greece’s position on the energy map of Europe, is visited today by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Alexandroupolis.
The first major energy agreement concluded by the Goprade of the Kopelouzos group and bridged the interests of many different countries and it consists of the floating storage and gasification terminal LNG (FSRU).
With a capacity of 153,500 sq.m. LNG, it will be connected to the national natural gas transmission system of Greece with a 28 km long pipeline, through which the gasified LNG will be promoted to the markets of Greece, Bulgaria and the wider region as far as Moldova and Ukraine.

This move makes Greece a “key” for the energy security of SE Europe.
This is an emblematic and at the same time visionary project for Athens as with the operation of the FSRU of Alexandroupolis it will have possibilities of LNG import that will be able to fully cover the imports of Russian gas.
