Coronavirus Greece – 5,191 cases, 30 deaths and 224 intubated

Greek authorities announced on Thursday that the new laboratory-confirmed cases of coronavirus recorded in the last 24 hours were 5,191. The total number of people who became ill amounts to 3,348,756 (daily change + 0.1%), of which 48.9% are men.

The number of possible new infections recorded in the last 24 hours was 459 while since the beginning of the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic the total number is estimated at 124,822 (3.6% of the total number of positive results). Geographically, 2,082 cases were identified in Attica, 565 in Thessaloniki, 128 in Achaia, 119 in Heraklion, 144 in Larissa, 107 in Messinia, 103 in Serres, and one in Mount Athos, while 117 are under investigation.

The new deaths of patients with COVID-19 are 30, while since the beginning of the epidemic a total of 29,315 deaths have been recorded. 95.6% had an underlying disease and/or age 70 years and older.

The number of patients treated by intubation is 224 (63.8% men). Their median age is 70 years. 92.9% have an underlying disease and/or age 70 years and older. Among intubated patients, 118 (52.68%) are unvaccinated or partially vaccinated and 106 (47.32%) are fully vaccinated. Since the beginning of the pandemic, 4,616 patients have been discharged from the ICU.
