Turkey continues to intensify its provocations against Greece, as the Turkish Air Force on Thursday carried out 40 violations of Greek national airspace in the Aegean Sea.
In the wake of Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu’s egregious demands for the demilitarisation of the Aegean islands, the Turkish Air Force today committed 40 violations.
In total, 12 Turkish F-16 fighters, 3 CN-235 spy planes, and a UAV unmanned aircraft flew over the Aegean. The 9 violations were committed by F-16s, 17 by CN-235s, and 14 by UAVs.
The Turkish aircraft flew in the Northeast, Central, and Southeast Aegean and also committed 13 infringements of air traffic rules in the Athens FIR. Two Turkish F-16s were armed.
According to the Hellenic National Defence General Staff (HNDGS), the Turkish aircraft were identified and intercepted in accordance with international rules, in accordance with established practice.
