A large fire is in progress in the centre of Thessaloniki, in the building that houses the EBETH (Craft Chamber), at the junction of Egnatia and Aristotelous streets. According to initial reports broadcast by ERT, there are people trapped in the building.

Black smoke can be seen coming out of the building, which is located right next to the apartment building that houses the SYRIZA offices.

Five vehicles of the Fire Brigade with 15 firefighters have rushed to the area, while at the moment traffic on Egnatia has been suspended.

Firefighters are currently evacuating the building in cooperation with the police. So far, it is unknown where the fire started while there are still several people in the building.
