A few hours after the response given by Athens and Washington to the Turkish provocation as expressed by Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who once again raised the issue of demilitarizstion of the islands, Mitsotakis emphasised that “there are many messages sent today by the new acquisition of the Navy. Its speed and weapons mean that our waters will remain impregnable.”

As he pointed out, its construction by Greek hands means that the shipyards in Skaramanga and Elefsina will remain open. “We are protecting the economic development of the country, while above all the very name of the ship proclaims that our homeland remains loyal to the saying, heroes give birth to new heroes”.

The PM underlined, “fast attack craft will spread the truth of history everywhere, that our borders are blue and not grey in a sacred mission that will be joined by three Belh@rra frigates and 4 renewed Frigate (F 452) type ΜΕΚΟ.” The Navy is becoming more powerful as is the Air Force with the Rafale and upgraded F-16 Vipers and the Army is modernising its capabilities by design.”

Expressing his thanks to the men and women of the Navy, Kyriakos Mitsotakis said that “for your stance, every Greek man and woman is grateful to you who close their ears to threats, listening only to the voice of justice and the history that teaches that anyone who violates borders is punished and that in the 21st century there is no place for imperial visions and would-be troublemakers.”

“I repeat: problems are solved peacefully and based on International Law and it is a big mistake for some to try to poison public opinion by discovering enemies where they don’t exist ” concluded Mitsotakis who emphasised that every Greek weapon is a force of peaceful deterrence, a shield of dynamic protection of our sovereign rights, but also of international legitimacy.”
