Turkey-Syria earthquake – Watch earth shaking in terrifying moment tremor strikes (video)

Rescue operations for the Greek couple have stopped

Newsroom February 10 04:51

A chilling video from Turkey has been making the internet rounds capturing the terrifying moment the powerful earthquake struck revealing the intensity and duration of the first major tremor that shook the country.

The video was captured by a home security camera and shows how the earth shook for 70 seconds.

The cars can be seen tossed around like toys, as does a building that exists in the scene. The recording stops abruptly, as the last few seconds the vibration becomes even more intense, causing the camera to fall and break.

Meanwhile, while concerns are intensifying as the search for the two Greeks missing since last Monday’s deadly earthquake in Turkey and Syria continues, it has been reported that search operations by the EMAK rescuers have concluded.

The Greek couple lived in a 6-storey apartment building in the centre of Antioch and they have yet to give signs of life since the day of the devastating earthquake. George Andypas, 65, and his wife, Nida Andypas, 62, lived on the 5th floor of the apartment building that collapsed after the deadly earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria. Their children and their relatives have appealed to all the relevant agencies in order to start the procedures to locate them. George Antipas is Greek and his wife comes from Syria.

Yesterday the Greek team went to the site and did a surface search without finding anything. According to reports, the area is “closed from a rescue point of view” which means that it seems that those who were to be found alive have been located. However, today the Greeks submitted to the Turkish coordinators a request for an exceptional investigation at the site.
