After the World Athletics Federation cancelled Miltos Tendoglou’s 8.40 long jump in Torun for using the wrong shoes, the Greek seems to have taken it personally and came back a day later to record the new leading jump in an event in Lieuven with 8.41m. The Greek athlete also recorded 8.32m, 8.37m, and 8.34m. in the meeting, all leading in the world.

A few hours after the cancellation of the 8.40m jump that he managed a few days ago in Torun, due to an “irregularity” in the shoes, the long Olympic champion saved the best for the meeting in Lieven, France.

On his 4th jump, he landed at 8.41m, again marking the best performance this year in the world.

To be precise, Tentoglou improved this year’s best performance in the world twice more at the Lieven meeting, at 8.28m. American Jeremy Davis: Started his race with 8.32m, and rose to 8.37m. in the third jump he had 8.36m. before the 8.41 p.m.

The Greek athlete missed his other two attempts, leaving the Swede Tobias Modler in second place (8.06m) and the American Marquis Dendy in third place with 7.94m.

8.41m is the athlete’s second performance in indoor track and the sixth of his career. With the same effort (8.41 m.) he emerged as the winner at the Tokyo Olympics.

Tentoglou will compete at the weekend in the Panhellenic indoor championship at SEF.

Immediately after his success in France, Tentoglou posted a story on Instagram, thanking the Greeks for the support they gave him in the injustice he suffered.
