Salary increases and the further reduction of tax burdens are at the forefront of today’s presentation by Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis of the New Democracy government program for the four-year period 2023-2027. The presentation of the program is taking place at the “Hellenic World” Cultural Center.
Today’s announcements by the prime minister also concern interventions in the state, the new National Social Security System, and the further digitization of the citizen-state relationship.
Mitsotakis, in his TV interview yesterday, analysed his commitment to raising wages by 25% over a four-year horizon, saying that the goal is to increase the minimum wage from the current 780 euros to 950 in 2027.
At the same time, he reiterated his commitment to a new salary in the public sector from 1/1/2024 with a special emphasis on those in the lower ranks, but also those in positions of responsibility, in order for this to act as a productivity incentive.
The big news, however, was the announcement of an increase in the tax-free allowance by 1,000 euros for families with children. In practice, for a couple with a child, the tax-free amount will increase from 9,000 which is currently 10,000 euros, while for each child it will be increased by 1,000 euros.
