Passenger traffic at “El. Venizelos” reaches new “heights” with 2.14 million passengers in April

This is an impressive 26.8% increase in passenger traffic compared to 2022 levels

Passenger traffic at the Athens airport during April 2023 recorded an impressive increase, with the number of passengers handled amounting to 2,136,956.

According to the statistics of the Airport “El. Venizelos” passenger traffic in the month of April reached 2.14 million, an increase of 26.8% compared to 2022 levels, 1,685,862 passengers were carried (a period during which the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on aviation continued trip), but also increased by 7.6% compared to the pre-pandemic year 2019. Both domestic and international passenger traffic exceeded 2022 levels by 20.5% and 29.8% respectively.

Compared to 2019, both domestic and international passengers increased by 15.3% and 4.4% respectively.

Overall, during the first four months of the year, the airport’s passenger traffic reached 6.6 million, up 47.5% compared to 2022 (4,484,066 passengers were handled) but also 4% compared to 2019. In detail, both domestic and international passenger traffic exceeded the levels of 2022 by 33.8% and 54.7% respectively, while they showed an increase compared to 2019, by 5.2% and 3 .4%, respectively.

The figures for flights at Athens International Airport are also impressive. Specifically, the number of flights during the first four months of 2023 amounted to 59,357, recording an increase of 19.3% compared to 2022 and 2.9% compared to 2019 levels. Both domestic flights, as well as international flights, increased by 11.6% and 25.8% respectively compared to 2022, while they also increased compared to 2019 by 6.5% and 0.3% respectively.
