Turkish Elections: Erdogan is below 50% – The winner will be decided in the second round

Pro-government media: Aksener suffered a nervous breakdown after the result

Newsroom May 14 11:37

With the data being formed in Turkey after the polls closed, Tayyip Erdogan seems to be the winner of today’s election for the election of the president of Turkey. Tayyip Erdogan’s percentage which started at around 65% at 18:00 on Sunday afternoon, in the evening fell below 50%.

The election night in Turkey was long, until it is was clarified that Tayyip Erdogan will have to wait for the second round on May 28 to become the president of Turkey against his opponent Kemal Kilicdaroglu, candidate of six Turkish opposition parties.

The polls showed clear lead of the united opposition candidate Kilicdaroglu in the previous days, something that did not materialize in reality.

The electoral thriller was reflected first of all in Constantinople, which, as Tayyip Erdogan has repeatedly stated, is the city where the winning candidate is also elected president.

According to the pro-government newspaper Yeni Safak, Meral Aksener broke a window, started shouting “Didn’t I tell you we can’t win?” and allegedly slapped a police officer.

According to the same publication, there was also a video of the incident, but the material was deleted, at the request of party members. It is also reported that strong police forces were sent to the scene and the situation turned chaotic. It is recalled that Aksener participates in the coalition of parties under Kilicdaroglu.

Later on Sunday night, she uploaded a tweet saying that she is fine and is watching the election results. In fact, she noted, “we are winning”…
