Heavy weaponry was found in a car that had been stolen from Athens last January and was found on Friday afternoon with the authorities having launched investigations into the mysterious case.
The car’s owner had immediately reported the theft and had even been compensated by the insurance company that had insured it.
So yesterday when the car was spotted by police officers (the car is an SUV and had fake number plates) the owner was notified who in turn referred the Police to the insurance company.
Representatives of the latter went to the scene with keys and when they opened the car they found two Kalashnikovs, three guns, one grenade, two bulletproof vests and a large number of cartridges.
The competent services of the Hellenic Police were immediately notified and the car was taken to the Acropolis Police Department.
