Irish woman claims she was raped in Rhodes

The 20-year-old woman said she woke up with no underwear on a beach

Newsroom June 28 01:25

An Irish woman reported she was raped in Faliraki, Rhodes.

According to “Demokratiki”, the 20-year-old young woman allegedly testified that she had gone out on Monday night with her friends in Faliraki, for fun. In the early hours of Tuesday (June 27) at approximately 01.45, she left with an unknown person from the club, heading from Faliraki Square to the beach.

The 20-year-old claimed that for about 5 hours, until 06:30 on Tuesday morning, she had memory loss, presuming, due to the dizziness she had, that the stranger had put some substance in her drink, as she had consumed a small amount of alcohol that it did not justify the situation in which she found herself.

The girl woke up on Tuesday morning on a beach in Faliraki and then her memory started to come back. There she found that she did not have her underwear, her mobile phone, or the pink bag she was carrying, and she had bruises on her nose and signs of abuse on her anus.

Police are seeking the suspect, while a forensic examination has been ordered. A case file was created, in the presence of a psychologist.
