The event in favor of the release of Freddy Beleris was held in Himara despite the efforts of the Albanian authorities to the contrary.
Earlier a police officer who had a piece of paper in his hands told the organizers that the gathering is prohibited for “security reasons”, according to ERT.
The organizers did not receive the document because it was not officially sent to them.

The police, afterwards, informally told them that “you go on at your own risk”.
What does Beleris say from prison
“I’m fine, I’m strong. I am waiting. It’s been 3 months, I’m determined to sit here as long as necessary, to be sworn in as mayor and go where the people of Himara have appointed me”, Freddy Beleris said speaking to Open Channel from prison.
“I want to tell them to be strong, wait and have faith in God and faith in the fight. Justice can be slow. Sometimes faster, sometimes slower, but in the end it always wins”, he added.
“The only reason I’m in prison is the grabbing of the properties from the native Greek residents, on behalf of ‘strategic investors’ who are mostly friends of the government and the Prime Minister”, he noted.
It is recalled that on the initiative of the largest Greek minority organization “Omonoia”, a large demonstration took place on the Central Pedestrian Walkway of Spilaion in Himara, as the three-month deadline stipulated by the Electoral Law for the swearing-in of Beleris expires.
The president of the KEAD, Vangelis Doules, the Mayor of Athens, Kostas Bakoyannis, representative of Omonia spoke, while among others, ND MPs Kostas Giulekas, Vassilis Yogiakas, the mayor of Igoumenitsa, Yiannis Lolos, the Mayor of Thessaloniki Konstantinos Zervas attended.
