With the fires raging out of control in the regions of Evros and Rodopi, in northeastern Greece, the sustained efforts of the Fire Brigade are being assisted by the Greek Army.

In addition to the vehicles involved in the extinguishing operations, platoons from the 5th Commando Squadron are moving to the affected areas, with their main mission being the surveillance of the situation that is forming on the fire fronts.
