The release of Dani Alves is turning into a thriller (until his appeal is heard), as everyone expected the 1 million euros to be deposited by his lawyer today, but it didn’t happen.
And while initially there was a sense that Neymar’s family (who has stood by Alves from the beginning) simply didn’t have time to transfer such a large amount, the father of the Brazilian ace gave a new dimension to the whole issue.
Neymar da Silva Santos, with an official statement on his personal Twitter account, clarified that he and his family are no longer involved in the case.
“As everyone knows, initially I helped Dani Alves, without having any involvement in any trial. At this moment, however, there is a different reality, as the Spanish justice system has already decided to convict Dani Alves,” initially stated Neymar’s father, continuing: “There are speculations and attempts to relate my name and my son’s name to an issue that no longer concerns us. I hope that Daniel will find, together with his own family, all the answers you are looking for. For us, for my family, the matter is over. And that’s all.”
The essence is that either because Neymar and his family do not want to be associated with the player after the conviction (he has been sentenced to 4.5 years in prison for the rape of a young woman on New Year’s Day 2023), or simply because they do not want to appear to be helping him, they made this move that still keeps Alves in prison today.

As we wrote yesterday, the Brazilian has won the legal battle with the tax authorities in Spain and must be refunded a huge amount (from 6 to 9 million euros), which, however, has not yet been credited to the relevant accounts… And what their lawyers will try to do is to persuade the authorities by giving written assurance that they will pay the money as soon as it is deposited by the Spanish government or to deduct the one million from the total debt owed to their client.
