She stressed Greece’s consistent line of not discussing sovereignty issues but advocated for dialogue between leaders. The New Democracy MP criticized Erdogan’s government for converting the Monastery of Chora into a mosque, stating it was a colossal mistake and not in line with Turkey’s cultural significance. She emphasized that the mosaics should not be covered and called the decision inappropriate and wrong. Regarding marine parks, she supported the government’s stance on environmental protection. Bakoyannis highlighted her party’s commitment to defending national interests and rejecting populism. She stressed the importance of responsibility with reference to national interests both domestically and internationally.
