At noon today, the Port Authority of Ios was informed by teachers of a high school in Thira, who were on a day trip from Thira to Ios, of an incident of minor injuries to six students on board the vessel “DIONISIOΣ SOLOMOS” N.P. 10638. The ship was operating a scheduled itinerary from Thira.

Specifically, the injuries of the six students were caused by a fall on the escalators when the ship sailed into the port of Ios, while a 14-year-old girl was taken to the Ios Health Centre for first aid, where she was discharged on the same day. After their excursion to Ios, the students boarded another ferry to Thira.

Preliminary investigation is being carried out by the Port Authority of Ios.
