Michael Mosley's body was not visible to the naked eye, but was "caught" by mobile phone cameras, which recorded the footage & they had to "zoom in"

Newsroom June 9 10:50

In a rocky area of the beach of Agia Marina, where the search for the missing BBC presenter in Symi had been focused, the body of Michael Mosley was found after five days.

More specifically, the mayor of Symi, Lefteris Papakalodoukas, had entered boats with journalists, to show them the dangerous spots.

There, cellphone cameras spotted the body of the 67-year-old presenter as they took video and footage from the area.

On the boats were the journalist of protothema.gr, Lina Kekesi, as well as colleagues from Star, Mega and ERT, as well as their colleagues from foreign media and from the BBC.

The Coast Guard was immediately called to the scene to seal off the area.

Firefighters were investigating a system of caves, which residents describe as “the abyss”. As they explain, the cave network, which is located on a picturesque beach, consists of dozens of tunnels, which can quickly fill with seawater.

Dr Mosley was last seen leaving St Nicholas beach at 1.30pm on Wednesday when he is believed to have been heading along the coastal path back to nearby Pedi.

“It’s like a deep tunnel system, but it’s full of water and can spread for miles. There’s a reason they call it that. There’s something very strange going on there,’ one waiter told the Daily Telegraph.
