The identified 37-year-old confessed culprit responsible for the demise of Vasiliki in Myrtia Ilia was conditionally released. The suspect had been apprehended in 2017 on charges related to the sexual assault of a 14-year-old victim. In 2020, preliminary records indicate that he had been convicted in the initial trial conducted in Zakynthos; however, his plea for a delay in the enforcement of his sentence was granted until the case could be reviewed by the Court of Appeal.
