Weather: High temperatures return – Winds this weekend

Very high risk of wildfires in Attica, Boeotia, Central & Southern Evia, Laconia, Lesvos & Chios

The temperature in Greece will rise again today, Thursday (20/6), with the thermometer showing up to 40 degrees Celsius in some mainland areas.

At the same time, as the HNMS forecast shows for today and up to Sunday, the high temperatures will be accompanied—mainly over the weekend—by north winds. We expect winds of 5-6 and even 7 Beaufort in some areas of the Aegean.

Yesterday, Wednesday, we had wind gusts that exceeded 100 kilometers per hour in Karystos and Tinos and reached 85 kilometers per hour in Mykonos, as recorded by the meteo/EAA network.

The Weather in Athens and Thessaloniki

Athens:
For today, Thursday, in Attica, we expect clear weather with north winds at 4 to 5 Beaufort and 6 to 7 Beaufort locally in the eastern parts. The temperature will range between 22 and 37 degrees Celsius, but in the eastern parts of the region, the maximum temperature will be 2 to 3 degrees lower.

Thessaloniki:
A similar scenario in Thessaloniki with clear weather, winds at 3-4 Beaufort, and temperatures ranging from 21 to 35 degrees Celsius.
