For the first time in its history, Greece secured two medals in the same event at a major swimming championship.
Apostolos Christou defended his title as European champion in the 50m backstroke, winning the final with a time of 24.39, while Vangelis Makrygiannis took third place with a time of 24.74, celebrating his first medal in the men’s category.
Between them was the Pole Ksawery Masiuk with a time of 24.63.
