During an appearance on the podcast “Bussin’ With The Boys,” the 34-year-old Kansas City Chiefs star was asked about his romance with the pop star.
When asked what it’s like to date the world’s biggest pop star, the three-time Super Bowl champion didn’t hesitate to respond.
“You want to keep things private, but at the same time, I don’t want to hide anything,” Kelce said. “That’s my girl. This is my lady. I’m proud of that. I’m not sitting here thinking about how to balance it, saying, ‘How do I keep it hidden?’ You just don’t want to let everyone into your personal life to the point where they can comment on it, knowing that whatever [Swift] does makes headlines.”
Despite her global fame, it was Swift’s ability to stay grounded that made Kelce fall for her.
“She has great self-awareness,” he shared. “She understands situations like that, and I think that’s why I started to fall in love with her—how genuine she is with her friends and family.” He added, “It can get crazy for someone with so much attention, but she stays so calm and cool, and I can definitely admire that.”
After they began dating last summer, the pop star drew attention by attending a Chiefs game last September.
During her football debut, the 34-year-old musician was photographed chatting and laughing with Kelce’s mom, Donna, in the team’s VIP suite.
Kelce revealed that despite his offer to arrange a private, paparazzi-free entrance, Swift wanted to experience the event fully.
“She just went straight through the front door,” he recalled. “There was no talk with security to make sure she got to [her seat]. She just said, ‘I want to be close to family and friends and experience this with everyone.'”
“She’s in the midst of the craziness. She wants to be part of it. She wants to support me and do those kinds of things. It really won me over,” Kelce noted. “And I think that’s why I started to fall in love with her—just seeing how genuine she is with friends and family.”
When asked about the biggest surprise in his relationship with Swift, Kelce mentioned the media attention. “[The paparazzi] was the craziest thing. Definitely them coming to the house,” he said.
He continued, “It’s a different demographic from the NFL, so it was nice to engage with that and see her fans and everything. It was fun because a lot more kids got involved with the game, and Chiefs fans have turned into a lot of her fans. And her fans have become Chiefs fans, so I’ve enjoyed every aspect of it.”
“But when you’re at home, you want to have your peace, and you don’t always get it,” he concluded.
