Officers from the Karystos Police Department arrested both the 17-year-old driver and his father for neglect of a minor. A preliminary investigation is underway to determine whether the father knowingly allowed his son to drive the truck without a license or if the 17-year-old took the vehicle without permission.

The incident has left students, parents, teachers, and the entire town of Karystos in shock. A student from the first year of high school has died, and a student from the third year of high school is now facing manslaughter charges.
