Moving moments unfolded in Kos when islanders said their own “thank you” to the firefighters involved in the fire battle in Cardamena.
As shown in the video, when residents of Kos noticed members of the 1st Special Forest Operations Unit, they broke into applause, rewarding the efforts of the firefighters.
“No Firefighter seeks recognition and reward, but when it comes spontaneously from the people, it makes each and every one of us forget the difficulties we face and carry on with the same vigor for the rest of the summer by the side of anyone in need. For as long as it takes…” reads the caption of the video posted on Instagram under the account hellenic_helitack_crews.
