Thanks to the immediate intervention of residents and the Fire Department Chania the worst was averted when on Tuesday night, July 16, a field fire broke out in Karydiana Perivolia in the Municipality of Therissos in the Municipality of Chania. According to a statement by the Municipal Community of Perivolia, the fire was caused by firecrackers thrown by children.

Characteristic is the post of the Community in social media in which the following:

“We experienced this too… A group of three children from our village who like to go for walks in the evenings and throw firecrackers, knock on doors of old people, break soda bottles in narrow alleys for noise…

So tonight they dumped dynamite in a field of grass in Karydiana. Result immediately caught fire and thanks to the immediate intervention of the residents near the field we really saved the worst.

When the fire brigade came, they poured enough water for safety reasons. Warm request to parents of some children who are late home at night to talk to them and ask them what they are doing and what company they were with until that time.

A joke tonight, if you call throwing dynamite a joke, thanks to Manolis the John the John the Lefteris and other neighborhood kids we were spared a lot of unpleasant situations… Let’s all reflect on our responsibilities before it’s too late.”
