Evros: Greek border guard wounded by unknown gunfire from the Turkish side

The incident occurred during an operation to prevent the entry of illegal immigrants from Turkey into our country

An alarm has been raised in Evros, in the Soufli region, as unidentified men from the Turkish border fired at border guards patrolling the area.

Specifically, according to an ELAS statement, Greek border guards patrolling the area and during an operation to prevent the entry of illegal immigrants from Turkey into Greece, were shot at by unknown persons on the Turkish side.

A Greek border guard was wounded by the shooting and was immediately taken to the hospital of Didymoteicho for first aid.

The incident is being investigated by the competent Greek authorities.
