Spetses: The Rescued Kitten is Going to the US – What the Tourist Says About the Coast Guard Officer Who Tried to Stop Her from Diving

The American tourist, now the kitten's new owner, has also created an Instagram account for her furry friend

Newsroom July 24 08:59

The kitten, which was rescued from Spetses thanks to a tourist, is traveling to America. It had fallen into the water and the incident went viral due to a TikTok video showing the girl, named Coco Gozlan, who lives in the USA, diving into the sea to save the kitten. Everyone was telling her that “it’s not safe due to a boat that might be passing by.”

However, the young girl jumped into the water with her clothes on, and within “half a minute” she had brought the kitten out, earning supportive comments for her act, even from the Spetses Care For Animals (SCFA) organization on the island, which praised the tourist for her heroic act.

The kitten was named Spetzy, inspired by the island of Spetses where it met its new family, as the American woman declared from the very beginning that she wanted to take it home with her.

Today, Wednesday, July 24, Spetzy is making a transatlantic journey to its forever home in the USA, which people can follow through its personal Instagram account, @spetzygirl, where photos of her are posted. The account was created to publicize the GoFundMe campaign, which contributes to the expenses of people with pets, especially in America.

On Spetzy’s page, the American woman also defends the Coast Guard officer who tried to stop her from diving, mentioning that he was “a sweet young guy” who “didn’t know what to do,” and that people don’t need to be harsh with him.
