Marousakis: Long dry spell over, rains coming
For his part, Klearchos Marousakis does not see a heatwave in the coming days. OPEN’s meteorologist in a post says, among other things, that “as far as the new heatwave, etc. is concerned, until the end of the week there is no sign of it (meteorologically at least….), with the winds dominating and the heat being more intense towards the west and the southeastern Aegean. Let’s keep in mind that a maximum temperature of 35 to 36 degrees is considered close to normal for the season, so the 38 degrees Celsius that we will see in the west. We experience these things every summer, so don’t take them all as extremes!”
At the same time, he notes that “this very long dry spell seems to be coming to an end as there are indications according to the long-term forecasting system we are running for a traffic pattern that will bring a satisfactory period of sufficient rainfall.

The temperature trend through the first ten days of August
Normal and slightly above normal for the season temperature values in our country will be maintained until Friday, August 2, 2024. A new significant rise in temperature is predicted from Saturday 3/8.
The graph shows 32 forecast scenarios from July 29 to August 13, 2024 from the US National Center for Environmental Prediction for the temperature trend at about 1,500 m above mean sea level, the altitude at which we study the path of the gas masses.
All the scenarios agree that after the temporary drop in temperature on the last day of July until August 2, a new temperature rise will affect Greece from the coming weekend 3-4/8. Later, after 5/8 there is uncertainty as to the intensity and duration of the new heat wave, which we will inform about in a later announcement.
