Greek athletes will compete in wrestling, water polo, artistic swimming, and marathon swimming as part of the schedule for the 14th day (August 9) of the “Paris 2024” Olympic Games.

The day kicks off early in the morning with Alkis Kynigakis participating in the men’s 10km marathon swim. His most notable achievement so far is finishing 5th in the 10km open water event at the Tokyo Olympics with a time of 1:49:29.

In wrestling, after Iranian Hassan Yazdani Charati advanced to the final of the men’s freestyle 86kg category, Dauren Kourougliev has an opportunity to fight for the bronze medal through two repechage rounds. Kourougliev will face Australian Jayden Alexander Lawrence in the first round of repechage, starting at 12:00. If he advances, he will compete for the bronze medal against Myles Nazem Amine from San Marino.

At 12:30, Giorgos Kougioumtzidis will compete in the first round of the men’s freestyle 74kg category against Viktor Rassadin from Tajikistan. If he advances, he will compete in the quarterfinals at 14:00 against the winner of the match between Feng Lu (China) and Amr Hussen (Egypt).

At 19:00, the Greek men’s water polo team, after a shocking loss to Serbia in the quarterfinals with a last-second goal (12-11), will face Australia in the classification round for positions 5-8.

Finally, at 20:30, Evangelia Platanioti and Sofia Malkogeorgou will begin their performance in the technical duet of artistic swimming.
