Gavdos: If water consumption is not reduced, there will be water supply interruptions

The announcement of the municipal authority for the use of water

Newsroom August 16 03:56

The border island of Gavdos is facing a huge water problem due to the high traffic in the area at the moment.

According to cretapost, the water is not enough and as a result the municipal authority has taken strict measures warning residents and visitors about the rational use of water. Indeed, as the municipality of Gavdos says in a post, if water consumption is not reduced then they will proceed to cut off the water supply.

The relevant announcement:

We inform you that if the consumption of water is not limited, due to the increased consumption during these critical days of 15 August when the traffic on the island is at its peak, we will be in the difficult position to proceed to water supply interruptions.

Unfortunately, some unscrupulous people who do not understand and do not respect the place that hosts them and the people of the island, vandalized the shower at the eastern end of Sarakiniko (in front of the restaurant CHELONA).

Let us remind them that the showers have been installed as a measure of rational water management and have contributed to the uninterrupted water supply, when other islands and other municipalities with greater water resources than our island are in a state of emergency due to water scarcity and have already proceeded to water supply interruptions.

This particular shower will be inactive until it is repaired with money intended to improve the daily life of the residents of Gavidi.

We apologize to guests and campers who were using it.
