A police patrol car was stationed at the entrance of the private road leading to the Botanical Garden, blocking access to those not invited to the wedding event, according to flashnews.gr. Meanwhile, the police in Chania detained two individuals, as despite SYRIZA President Stefanos Kasselakis’s request for privacy at his wedding, it was not fully respected.
Specifically, the Chania Police Department detained two people attempting to take aerial footage with a drone during the wedding ceremony of SYRIZA President Stefanos Kasselakis and his husband, Tyler Macbeth, at the Botanical Garden of Chania.
Stefanos Kasselakis’s Arrival at the Botanical Park for the Wedding Reception
Stefanos Kasselakis and Tyler Macbeth returned to the ceremony site in a private car to avoid cameras, while once again, strict police measures were in place to ensure the privacy of the couple’s personal moments.
According to local media, an anti-drone system was activated to prevent any drone from flying and recording video from above within close range. Additionally, guests were asked to hand over their mobile phones before the wedding celebration began.
After the brief ceremony, a reception followed for the couple’s 130 guests. Guests enjoyed creations from the Botanical Garden’s kitchen featuring local flavors and dishes based on local products, homemade lemonade with herbs, and a cocktail based on Greek gin.
A bag filled with local products, such as honey and Cretan olive oil infused with orange, also awaited the guests.
Earlier preparations, as shown in the photos from protothema.gr, were intense.
The events began on Wednesday, August 28, where, according to the program, at 7:00 PM, the two families dined just before sunset, enjoying the view and Mediterranean cuisine on the beautiful terrace of the Palas.
On the morning of Thursday, August 29, there was a free schedule, allowing the nearly 150 guests to explore the city of Chania. In the evening, the couple hosted a wedding dinner for their guests, with strict security measures in place. Stefanos Kasselakis and Tyler arrived by car at the Kambos estate. Both private and public security prevented journalists, photographers, and television cameras from capturing any footage.
However, the celebrations for today do not end there, as in the evening, the couple has organized a party at a private villa in Chania with a panoramic view of the entire Souda Bay, extending all the way to Psiloritis. Perched on a private estate at the start of Akrotiri in Chania, the villa offers the sought-after discretion and luxury to host the party that will “close” the couple’s wedding festivities. Access to this private party will be strictly limited to the couple’s 130 guests.
