To celebrate 130 years of motorsport history, Mercedes-AMG has created its most powerful GT3 yet, code-named “Edition 130Y Motorsport.”
The body of the GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport differs from other versions, with a redesigned splitter, air intakes, and diffuser, and a larger rear wing.
At the same time, this model marks the final appearance of the naturally aspirated 6.3-liter V8 engine, which has been upgraded to its maximum potential. In this particular GT3, it produces 680 horsepower and 730 Nm of torque.
The team from Affalterbach worked hard to achieve these figures, first removing the air restrictor and then installing a more efficient exhaust system.
The power is transmitted, as in all GT3s, through a 6-speed sequential gearbox. Notably, this mechanical setup helped this special edition set a new record for the GT car category at Mount Panorama, with a time of 1:56.6.
With these aerodynamic enhancements, the AMG GT3 generates 15% more downforce than the original version. The car rides on 18-inch magnesium wheels.
In terms of design, the colors are inspired by the classic 1952 Mercedes-Benz 300 SL W194, with blue accents standing out in various areas.
The interior is also inspired by the 300 SL, most notably with the seats featuring a checkered pattern and a blue-white color scheme, paying homage to the late Juan Manuel Fangio. The steering wheel grips are made of wood, and the switches are anodized aluminum.
Only 13 units of the GT3 Edition 130Y Motorsport will be produced, with a price set just above 1 million euros (before taxes).
