SYRIZA: Today’s decision regarding Spirtzis is crucial – The “87” group is ready for any scenario, including possible expulsion

Being considered is a motion of no confidence - Kasselakis will present the changes he wants to implement in SYRIZA to the Committee at 7 PM

Newsroom September 3 07:37

Today’s decision by SYRIZA’s Ethics Committee about former Minister Christos Spirtzis is considered pivotal for the upcoming Central Committee meeting this weekend and the future of the main opposition. Spirtzis sent a letter asking for more information about the charges against him, and the atmosphere within SYRIZA is tense.

If Spirtzis is expelled, it could accelerate internal party developments, especially with the “87 Movement” being closely involved. These members are considering their options, including submitting a motion of no confidence. Some members accuse the Ethics Committee of being used in political disputes within the party.

At the same time, SYRIZA’s latest poll numbers show them in third place, causing concern within the party. PASOK has overtaken them in the second position.

Meanwhile, Kasselakis will present his proposed changes at a meeting this evening, which has caused internal friction in the past. His plans include potential structural reforms within the party, including changing the party’s name.
