A boat carrying 22 migrants was spotted 37 nautical miles south of Gavdos.

Specifically, according to reports, the port authorities of Paleochora, Agia Galini, and Sfakia were informed about a small wooden boat in the area, and assistance for rescue was requested.

Two cargo ships, flying the flags of the Marshall Islands and the Netherlands, were at the scene and rescued the migrants.

All migrants are in good health, and they are currently being transferred to Paleochora under the guidance of the Joint Search and Rescue Coordination Center.
