“These are favorable polls for the government and for ND. But, I repeat, just so I’m not inconsistent, I always look at polls more, especially in the phase we’re in now, because we’re now two and a half years before the election, I always look at them as a direction, as something that shows more of a trend and I’m less interested in whether it’s up a point, down half a point, so I don’t think that’s important as a finding.” This is what the state minister, Makis Voridis, said commenting on the recent polls by Pulse and Metron Analysis, in an interview with Canal 1 of Piraeus.

“I think that these polls also reflect that there is a clear lead of the New Democracy, which also shows the acceptance of the government, there has been a reversal in the position of the opposition of the second party, there I think it is PASOK ahead by a clear margin, and SYRIZA, which was the second party in the elections, has been largely liquidated,” Voridis noted, adding: “The party of Latinopoulou seems to be building a foundation, and where there were Sparthians in it, there will probably be Latinoopoulou in it. So this particular space has internal rearrangements.” “The general political backdrop reveals what was shown in the budget, the government is stable the government came out of the budget process stronger and this is reflected in the numbers,” he said.

On the problems of everyday life, the Minister of State pointed out: “We are concerned with improving the lives of citizens, but we always see and judge this concerning our commitments and the mandate we have received from citizens in our election programme.”

“Because otherwise everyone can set whatever bar they want in their daily life and its improvement. We want to be judged and I think it’s fair and honest to be judged on our commitments in our election program, he added.

Finally, on taxation and freelancers, Voridis stressed: “For freelancers, we have reduced tax rates and at the same time we have completely abolished the business tax much earlier than we had planned to do. Also, it is obvious that those who have employees are benefiting from the reductions in social security contributions, and therefore in the non-wage costs of working. I think several things have been done that favour both the self-employed and the self-employed and small businesses.”

“The fact that we have a significant increase in tax revenues while at the same time we have a reduction in tax rates is the result of a series of measures, measures, mainly, to tackle tax evasion,” the State Minister concluded.
