Israeli forces have been conducting raids in southern Lebanon for months, finding tunnels of Hezbollah and weapons caches hidden under houses and revealing plans for an invasion by the Shiite group, Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari said today.
Hagari stressed that details of the operation were classified, hours after Israel announced a ground operation against Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.
Dozens of similar raids had uncovered detailed plans for an invasion of Israel by Hezbollah and an attack similar to the one Hamas launched in southern Israel on Oct. 7 last year, according to the Israeli military.
The findings and evidence discovered under houses in villages in southern Lebanon during the raids will be presented to the international community, Hagari said, showing body camera footage carried by Israeli soldiers and maps of the area.
