Jennifer Lopez made her first appearance at the awards amid her separation from Ben Affleck.
The 55-year-old singer stated, “Music truly has the power to heal, lift our spirits, and connect us,” in an interview aired during the special tribute for the 50th anniversary of the American Music Awards (AMAs).
Lopez reflected on her most memorable experiences at the AMAs, highlighting her performance in a tribute to the late Cuban singer Celia Cruz at the 2013 AMAs as “one of the most special nights of her life.”

“She is such a huge icon, not just in Latin music but worldwide,” Jennifer Lopez said.
“Music truly has the power to heal, lift our spirits, and connect us. The American Music Awards have been showcasing that for half a century, and I’m excited for the next 50 years of music and magic,” she noted.
The singer also reminisced about watching the awards as a young girl, describing the five decades of the event as “truly incredible.”
“One of my first appearances at the AMAs was in 2001, a long time ago… but the energy in the room was electric,” said Jennifer Lopez.
“Winning an award that is voted on by fans is incredibly special because it comes directly from the people you make music for,” she mentioned.
“Hosting the American Music Awards in 2015 was obviously a great honor. I decided I was going to change outfits every time I came out. We did this dance medley with all these amazing songs from that year, and I wanted everyone to feel the love and energy,” she emphasized, adding, “I might do it again, who knows?”
